Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with this padlock. It's been a while since I've had something close to a full-size lock (I usually stick to those smaller compact locks.) After feeling it out, most of it is molded plastic, which is a bit disappointing. It does feel like there's a metal core inside from using the code and keys, though it's hard to confirm without taking it apart. I will say it definitely feels more like a light-duty lock, but it does have some weight to it adding some huff.The dial wheels are small and slightly further back than I'd like, so they can be a bit tricky to spin. Also, the lock only really works in a specific order. If the key is in a certain position, the dials won't move, so you kind of have to learn how it wants to be used. If you try to switch between the key and code without resetting things properly, the latch may not want to release. It takes a bit of muscle memory to get used to this one.It does feels a bit lower cost in design at the end of the day. It's fairly chunky, which I like, but the shackle doesn't look really thick or hardened. It feels more like a deterrent than real security like most budget locks. I wouldn't trust it with anything high-value, but for something like a locker or gym bag, it's fine. It looks decent, feels okay in the hand, and works as intended.

This is a nicely made combination lock. The lock it is replacing began to get corrosion on the combination wheels making them hard to turn. With that lock you could only open it with the combination. This one also gives you the option of using a key so if the combination wheels are not able to be turned you always have the key as a back-up. The locks seems to be sturdy and the craftsmanship is good. I also like that the combination wheels are on the side. On the previous lock they were on the bottom so you had to try to lift up the lock as much as you could and bend down a bit to operate the combination wheels. This lock design makes it much easier to read the numbers and dial in the combination. The price is reasonable for the design and quality of the lock.

The Forge 4-Digit Combination Padlock is SOLID. It is heavy, well made and free of any immediately discernible defect. With the easy to understand instructions (provided in English and Spanish), the combination was very easy to set. The whole process took under 30 seconds to complete.I absolutely recommend this padlock, this is just GREAT VALUE!

A heavy lock with a strong closure and easy to dial in combination with smooth rollers. I haven't had them bind up on me when rolling in the digits. The plastic piece on the keyring looks like trash but if you lose that, you may have difficulty setting the custom code. It also comes with two keys to unlock it.

Very sturdy and good quality. Has nice weight to it. The instructions are easy to follow and I like the option of the key too if i forgot the combination.

This is a good heavy duty combination lock. It is made of hardened steel and the clasp is very thick. This lock also comes with three keys that will open the lock in case you don't remember the combination but that is what these keys are for. They are not meant to be a primary way to open the lock. They are meant to be used as a way to open the lock if you don't remember the combination but they cannot be removed from the keyhole until you set the combination to a new code that you will hopefully remember this time around. The keys also come with a reset tool that you would also use in this situation. I don't want to get into the particulars of how this works but suffice it to say that you will need to reset the combination before the lock will release its hold on the key. So the keys are a safety feature only. This is a combination lock that has keys to ensure that the key holders can still unlock and access whatever it is securing and to then reset the combination to a new combination. With this feature, you will never have to use bolt cutters to unlock whatever it is securing and you can always reuse this lock by simply resetting the combination to one that you will hopefully remember this time.
